129 Run Partnership

Joe Root (153) and Ben Stokes (120) shared a 129 run partnership to help put England in command of the second Test against West Indies.

After scoring 109 in the first drawn Test, Joe added 44 runs on the second day. Before being dismissed for 153, Joe was joined by Ben with England on 244-3.

Ben played with real intent, passing 5000 Test runs on the way to his eleventh Test century. He is now part of a select group of players who have scored 5000 runs and taken more than 150 wickets in Test matches.

Ben’s 120 came off 128 balls and contained 6 sixes and 11 fours. This was Ben’s first Test century in the West Indies, bettering his previous highest of 79.

England declared on 507-9 and at the close of play the West Indies were on 71-1.
