24 Half-Centuries for Ben

Motera – It’s now 24 half-centuries for Ben Stokes in Test matches. His 55 runs were one of the few highlights as India dismissed England for 205 in the final Test.

With twelve overs bowled, Zak Crawley (9) and Joe Root (5) were already back in the pavilion. Ben came out to bat with England on 30-3.

Before and after lunch, there was hope that Ben and Jonny Bairstow (28) might turn the innings around.

Reverse sweeping Axar Patel for 4, Ben reached his 50 in some style. Completed in 114 balls, this was one of Ben’s slowest Test match half-centuries.

With his score on 55, Ben misread a straight ball from Washington Sundar and was given out LBW.

Ollie Pope (29) and Dan Lawrence (46) offered further hope for England, only to lose their wickets at critical moments.

In reply to England’s 205, India finished on 12-1 at the close.
