5000 First-Class Runs

Congratulations Joe Clarke. Joe passed 5000 first-class runs on his way to scoring his second half-century of the LV=Insurance County Championship season.

The bowlers were on top at the Incora County Ground, as 18 wickets fell on the opening day.

In trouble at 31-2, Nottinghamshire have Ben Slater (107) and Joe (66) to thank for adding 163 runs. The third wicket Slater-Clarke partnership was crucial in the visitors posting a first innings total of 256.

When Joe scored the first of his 66 runs he reached 5000 first-class runs. The 5000 run landmark came across 144 innings and included 17 scores of 100 plus runs.

Since joining Nottinghamshire for the start of the 2019 season, Joe has scored 4 centuries from 37 innings for the county.

Ironically, his highest first-class innings to date came against Derbyshire when he scored 194 for Worcestershire in September 2016.

Update: Joe completed his third half-century in the 2021 County Championship when scoring 53 (1 six, 4 fours) in Nottinghamshire’s second innings.
