Ben Keeps Rolling

Port Elizabeth – The good times just keep rolling for Ben Stokes. Ben scored his ninth test century, his third vs. South Africa, and passed 4000 test match runs on the second day of the second test.

Starting the day on 38no, Ben scored 120 (12 fours, 2 sixes).

Ben’s innings was built on a foundation of solid defence. Before he moved through the gears, accelerating the scoring.

His 50 took 102 balls. Just 72 balls later and Ben had reached his century.

Together with Ollie Pope (135no), Ben shared 203 run fifth wicket partnership, taking England from 148-4 to 351-5.

England declared their first innings on 499-9. At the end of play South Africa were 60-2.

Earlier, opener Zak Crawley (44) made his highest score in test cricket.
