The BBC have announced that Ben Stokes is one of six contenders for the 2019 Sports Personality of the Year. The announcement was made by Ed Sheeren, one of Ben’s biggest fans.
There is little doubt Ben’s heroics defined the 2019 cricket season in England.
His name will forever be linked with England’s nail-biting ICC World Cup victory at Lords vs. New Zealand in July. One month later, Ben made a dramatic 135 in the third Ashes Test at Headingley, to give England a one-wicket win. In recognition of his achievements Ben was named the Natwest PCA Player’s Player of the Year in October.

The BBC Sports Personality of the Year for 2019 will be announced on Sunday 15 December.
