Ben’s New Book

Announcement from Headline

“Headline has acquired a timely new book by England cricketer Ben Stokes. The deal was struck by Consultant Sports Publisher Jonathan Taylor with Neil Fairbrother, Cricket Director of Phoenix Management Group and will be publishing it this November in hardback.

Ben Stokes has been a pivotal figure in England’s first ever triumph in the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2019. In the final, his unbeaten 85 with the bat at Lord’s followed by his heroics in the fabled Super Over drove England to an historic victory over New Zealand in front of a TV audience of eight million.

His quite remarkable innings of 135 not out at a sun-drenched Headingly late August 2019 saw England thrillingly clutch victory from the jaws of defeat in the Third Test against Australia, keeping them in the hunt to regain the Ashes. The nerve-shredding one-wicket victory was England’s highest successful fourth innings run chase since they started playing Test cricket back in 1877. Jonathan Agnew, the BBC’s cricket correspondent, has described the match as: ‘The greatest game I have ever seen.’

Jonathan Taylor said: ‘Headline had the great pleasure of publishing Ben’s first book, Firestarter, in 2016 and it’s been absolutely incredible to see him develop his role in this England cricket team. His performances this summer – with bat, ball and in the field – are already a part of national cricket folklore. Ben’s book will be much anticipated by sports fans and will be the ultimate insider’s account of a never-to-be-forgotten three-and-half months of nail-biting cricket action.’

Ben Stokes said: ‘I am absolutely thrilled to be telling my story about the Cricket World Cup victory and about what is already a fantastic Ashes series. It has been an unbelievable summer for English cricket, and I sincerely hope it ends with yet more success for the team.’

The yet to be titled book will be published by Headline on the 14th November.”
