Away from the bio-secure Test bubble, other Phoenix family members can now play first-class cricket. The eighteen counties were given the go-ahead earlier today when the ECB announced the fixtures for the Bob Willis Trophy.
The ECB confirmed the Bob Willis Trophy will be a one-off red ball competition with first-class status. This competition is separate from County Championship and will run solely over the remains of the 2020 summer.
The eighteen counties will play in three regional groups. The two counties with the highest point totals will then play in a five day final.
A shortened Vitality Blast and Women’s 50 over competition will provide this summer’s white ball action.
The Bob Willis Trophy gets underway on Saturday 1 August.
