Congratulations Stuart!

Congratulations Stuart! Earlier today Stuart Broad was nominated for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2020. In what has been a strange summer of Test cricket, Stuart was in irrepressible form with the ball in hand.

Dropped for the first home Test vs West Indies, Stuart bounced back in the best possible manner.

In the two remaining Tests against the Windies, Stuart took 16 wickets. The undoubted highlight was seeing Stuart reach 500 Test wickets, becoming just the seventh Test bowler to join this exclusive club.

This was followed by Stuart taking a further 13 wickets in the three-match series vs. Pakistan. In five home Test during 2020 he took 29 wickets, taking him to a current career total of 514.

Stuart’s nomination for Sports Personality of the Year follows on from the success enjoyed by Ben Stokes who won this most prestigious award in 2019.

On Twitter, Stuart said he was “honoured” to be nominated for SPOTY.
