Ed’s Gray-Nicolls Interview

Ed Pollock reflects on his approach to batting in a recent Gray-Nicolls interview. Warwickshire’s specialists T20 batter, offers insights into how his batting will evolve for The Hundred.

Ed will join fellow Phoenix family members Jos Buttler and Joe Clarke in the Manchester Originals squad for The Hundred.

After playing in the pilot games, Ed thinks hitting sixes will put teams on the front foot in The Hundred.

While Ed accepts, he will never be technically correct he can hit the ball cleanly.

Ed’s batting revolves around the mental skill of keeping his head clear and focusing solely on the ball that is to be delivered.

The mental side of batting is important, but it needs harnessing to the development of a repertoire of run scoring shot options for every ball bowled at Ed.

For Ed,  shot option innovation and perfection, evolves from disciplined net practice.

Further, Ed adds to his batting gains through applied learning from golf and baseball. This allows him to take the dynamics of power generation from other sports and integrate them into his batting.
