George Leads England to Win

Cheltenham – George Hill led England U19s to a 5 wicket win over India at Cheltenham College.

George won the toss and England invited India to bat. The Indian batters scored 256-6 in their allotted 50-overs.

In George’s first match as captain England’s batting struggled against Bangladesh. There was no repeat at the second time of asking.

A second-wicket partnership of 127 between opener Ben Charlesworth (52) and Jack Haynes (89) gave England the foundation on which their victory was built.

It was left to Kasey Aldridge (29no) and George (41no) to guide England to 277-5 in the 49th over.

George’s innings of 41no was made off 41 balls and included 3 fours and 1 six. It was his highest score in youth ODIs, passing his previous best of 30 made during the 2019 tour to Bangladesh.

England”s next Tri-Nations match will be against Bangladesh at Cheltenham on 28 July.
