James’ 67 Runs

Hobart – BBL 10 got underway today, with James Vince making the best possible start for Sydney Sixers. Although the defending champions lost their opening match, James’ 67 runs, were the highlight of the Sixers innings.

Hobart Hurricanes set the Sixers a target of 279. Victory looked a distinct possibility when James and Jack Edwards (47) added a 63 ball century partnership for the second wicket. The pair claiming the power boast point for the Sixers at the 10 overs mark.

James was at his classic best. He set about the Hurricanes bowlers from the outset of his innings. James’ 50 (1 six, 7 fours) coming off 29 balls and together with Edwards, the Sixers looked the likely winners.

Yet after James was out on 67 (2 sixes, 98 fours), the Hurricanes bowlers made scoring difficult. At a critical stage, momentum was lost from the Sixers innings and they fell 16 runs short of their target.
