Captain Joe Root and Stuart Broad have been named in England’s 13-player squad for the one-off test match vs. Ireland (24-27 July) at Lord’s. After their World Cup exploits both Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler have been rested.
With the Ashes series on the horizon, the England selectors have also named a squad of 16 for a pre-Ashes training camp at the FA’s National Football Centre. Joe, Ben, Stuart and Jos have all been selected to attend.
While the extraordinary World Cup Final is still fresh in the memory, the First Test vs. Australia, starting August 1 at Edgbaston is fast approaching.
All four Phoenix Management Group’s family members will be expecting to be named for the Edgbaston test.
Update 23 July 2019. Today the ECB confirmed that Joe Root and Stuart Broad will play for England in the test match vs.Ireland starting Wednesday 24 July.
