Joe’s 17th Test 100

Hamilton – Joe Root made his seventeenth test century in the second and final test vs. New Zealand. On a rain shortened third day the England Captain, walked off on 114no (14 fours).

This was the innings that England needed after New Zealand made 375.

Joe started the day on 6. Over three sessions, he gave a masterclass in patient circumspect batting taking 259 balls to reach three figures.

Together with Rory Burns (101), Joe shared a third wicket partnership of 177.  At the close of play England were 269-5 and trailed New Zealand by 106 runs.
