Liam’s Thumping 54

Perth – A stand of 123 by openers Liam Livingstone (54) and Jason Roy (74no) setup Perth Scorchers for an easy 9 wicket win over Hobart Hurricanes. Liam’s thumping 54 runs took the wind out of the Hurricanes, whose losing streak continues.

Hobart’s record of three straight BBL wins at Perth, came to an end, when Liam and Roy set about their bowlers. Chasing 140 for the win, the openers soon reduced the odds of a Scorchers victory.

The Hurricanes will regret having Liam dropped before scoring. His first half-century of BBL 10, took just 37 balls (4 sixes, 3 fours). Together with Player of the Match Roy, Liam speedily put the game beyond the Hurricanes. The Roy-Livingstone partnership of 123 becoming the second highest, to date, in BBL 10.

For fifteen overs, Hobart huffed and puffed against the Perth openers, before Liam was out, caught in the deep.

The Scorchers went on to wrap up a regulation win with 22 balls to spare.
