Joe Root has scored his maiden Roses century.
This was Joe’s seventh innings in Roses matches and it was an important one for Yorkshire.
Joe’s 147 runs (13 fours) came off 218 balls and his knock will go some way to help Yorkshire save the match. Earlier, Lancashire were impressive with the bat and declared their first innings on 566-9.
Importantly for England supporters, this innings shows Joe’s long run of good form continues. He has now scored 222 runs in just two County Championship innings in 2022.
At the close of play Yorkshire were 356-8 and still needing 61 to avoid the follow on with one day remaining.
