Marcus Receives Honour

Bath – Marcus Trescothick today received an honorary doctorate in health from the University of Bath.

Speaking at the historic Assembly Rooms, Professor Roland Jones said Marcus was being recognised for, “outstanding services to cricket, and for his openness and candour in helping and continuing to help others with mental health issues.”

Episodes of anxiety and depression forced Marcus from international cricket during the Ashes tour of 2006-2007. He has written about his own mental health experiences in Coming Back to Me. The Autobiography of Marcus Trescothick.

Coming Back to Me won the 2008 William Hill Sports Book of the Year.  Since writing his autobiography, Marcus has become a patron of Anxiety UK.

In September, Marcus signed a one-year extension to his Somerset contract. The 2019 season will be his twenty-seventh year playing at Taunton.
