Mason’s Spluttering Hampshire

Mason Crane’s Hampshire were defeated by Glamorgan in the Quarantine Cup Final. Mason’s spluttering Hampshire just never sparkled when batting first.

After the batting pyrotechnics of the semi-final, Mason just could not get the blue touch paper to light at Edgbaston.

Let’s be clear, Roman Walker has perfected the art of playing Cricket 19. His Glamorgan side were like a tough stick of Barry Island rock to break.

Batting first, Hampshire started slowly and were unable to increase the tempo. The Hants batters mustered only 45 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in their 5 overs.

Mason was probably 15 runs short of a defendable total.

With 46 runs required, Glamorgan never had to break sweat to reach their target.

There can be little argument, Glamorgan were the rightful winners of the inaugural, and hopefully last, Quarantine Cup.

Nevertheless, Mason has provided us with quality entertainment over his long arduous journey to the final.
