Nick Gubbins Scores 92

Lords – Nick Gubbins scores 92 and helps Middlesex secure a five wicket Royal London Cup win today.

Chasing Glamorgan’s 285, the scoreboard showed just 2 runs when the first Middlesex wicket fell. Enter Nick. With Sam Robson (79), he tipped the odds in favour of a Middlesex win. Batting with confidence and serious intent they added 147 runs for the second wicket.

Nick’s 50 came in 46 balls (6 fours). When reaching 72, he passed 2000 runs in ListA matches.

With the score on 216, and 70 runs still needed, Nick was the fourth Middlesex batter out. His 92 was scored off 91 balls (12 fours) at a Strike-Rate of 101.10.

In his six Royal London Cup matches this year, Nick has now passed 50 on four occasions for Middlesex. In three of those innings he has gone on to score 98 (vs. Gloucestershire), 90 (vs Somerset) plus the 92 Nick has scored today.

Nick, who joined the Phoenix Management Group family in 2018, has made a powerful run gathering start to his 2019 campaign. As-well-as his impressive ListA knocks he has made 55 in a Specsavers County Championship game vs. Lancashire in April.

In other Royal London Cup games, Ed Pollock scored 38 in 34 balls in Warwickshire’s five wicket Duckworth/Lewis Method win over Lancashire. While Mason Crane’s 2 wickets helped Hampshire gain their seventh win in the Southern Group when beating Somerset.
