150no for Nick Gubbins was one of the highlights on the opening day of the Bob Willis Trophy. Nick’s flying start helped Middlesex to a solid first innings of 264-4 vs. neighbours Surrey at the Kia Oval.
Middlesex won the toss and batted. After two overs and with Middlesex 7-1, Nick strode out to the middle. He was till there when stumps were drawn eighty-nine overs later.
After scoring a century in the warm-up game against Surrey, Nick again took runs off the Surrey bowlers. His eighth first-class 100 (14 fours) coming off 170 balls. By close Nick had moved on to 150no (17 fours, 1 six) and is closing in, overs permitting, on his highest first-class score of 201no.
After a rather lean 2019 season, Nick has reminded people why he was being talked about as a future international batter.
