Rolling the Dice

Dunedin – Josh Philippe hit 45 as Australia came agonisingly close to winning the second IT20 in New Zealand. Rolling the dice, Josh kept Australia in the chase to overhaul New Zealand.

New Zealand set Australia 220 to win. At 34-1, Josh came to the wicket. Taking risks to get on top of the run rate, Josh drew off his range of T20 shots, together with a scattering of miscues.

His innings ended when he was caught off a sliced shot towards cover. His 32 ball 45 (3 sixes, 2 fours) helped Australia to 112-4.

The match appeared all over when Australia slipped to 113-6 during the thirteenth over. Dragging themselves back into contention, Australia fell 4 runs short of their target, ending on 215-8.

This was Josh’s second IT20 after being awarded his cap prior to the first match in Christchurch on Monday.

New Zealand now lead the 5 match series 2-0.
