England and Surrey Stars, wicket keeper Sarah Taylor is the inaugural recipient of The Guardian Women’s Cricketer of the Year.
The Guardian award is given to a player who has “done something truly remarkable, whether by overcoming adversity, helping others or setting a sporting example by acting with exceptional honesty.”
Consider by former Australian Captain Adam Gilchrist to be the best wicket keeper in the world, Sarah received the award, in part, for her batting and performances with the gloves.
Tellingly, the award, also recognised Sarah’s openness about her personal challenges of managing anxiety and contributions to raising mental health awareness.
