Show-Stopping 77

Canberra – Liam Livingstone’s show-stopping 77 was the headline performance in Perth Scorchers comfortable win over Brisbane Heat. The Scorchers will now face current holders Sydney Sixers in Saturday’s BBL 10 final.

In a rain affected Challenger match, Liam and Cameron Bancroft got the Scorchers off to a blistering start. Together the openers blasted 114 runs off 11.1 overs. While Barlett flickered, beating the edge early on, the others, in particular the leg spinners, were extinguished by Liam’s bat.

Taking centre-stage, Liam’s 50 (3 sixes, 4 fours) came off just 27 balls. By the time he was out at the start of the twelfth over, Liam had smashed 77 vital runs off 39.

After 18 overs, the innings closed, due to rain, with the Scorchers on 189-1. The intervention of the DLS Method, set Brisbane the stern task of 200 runs for victory off 18 overs. It was a target beyond them, and Perth took the win by 49 runs.

After his brutal yet magnificent innings, Liam was named Player of the Match.
