Ten for The Hundred

It’s Ten for The Hundred. The Phoenix family will provide ten players for seven of the eight teams in the inaugural summer of The Hundred.

Eight family members were already retained by their teams from the postponed 2020 competition. After the draft was announced earlier today, they were joined by Matt Critchley and Tom Lammonby.

Birmingham Bears

Liam Livingstone will be looking to repeat his recent BBL batting performances for Perth Scorchers when he joins up with the Birmingham Phoenix. Liam has developed a reputation as a hard-hitting opener in T20 around the world. Importantly, his ability to spin the ball will offer an extra dimension to the Birmingham bowling unit.

London SpiritĀ

Zak Crawley is quickly establishing himself as a Test batter, yet he is equally at home in the frantic environment of short-form cricket. Zak has one T20 century to his name and three half centuries for Kent. A regular in Hampshire’s T20 team, Mason Crane has taken 42 T20 wickets with best bowling figures of 3-15.

Manchester Originals

World Cup winner Jos Buttler is one of the most destructive T20 batters in cricket. In T20 cricket Jos has hit over 6000 runs and has 44 half-centuries to his name. Jos will be joined in the Originals squad by Joe Clarke. Currently, playing in the PSL, Joe was a temporary replacement for the Perth Scorchers during BBL 10. He is the current holder of The Walter Lawrence Trophy for the Fastest Century in 2020, his 100 against Durham taking just 44 balls. The Originals have also drafted in Tom Lammonby, who stepped forward with the bat for Somerset during the 2020 season.

Northern Superchargers

Ben Stokes will be the headline act for the Superchargers. With two T20 centuries, nine half-centuries and 72 wickets, the Superchargers will be looking to Ben for match winning performances.

Southern Brave

Currently playing in the PSL, James Vince has been one of the key reasons why Sydney Sixers have claimed consecutive BBL titles. In the final of BBL 10, James picked up the Player of the Match Award after setting-up the Sixers victory with spectacular 95.

Trent Rockets

England captain, Joe Root will head over the border from Yorkshire to Nottinghamshire to join up with the Rockets. In prime form in Test cricket, Joe has scored 13 half-centuries in T20 cricket for Yorkshire.

Welsh Fire

Drafted by the Fire, Matt Critchley will bring hard-hitting to the squad. Importantly, Matt will add to the team’s bowling unit. In T20 matches for Derbyshire Matt has taken 43 wickets and has best bowling figures of 4-36.
