Zak’s Double Celebration

Tunbridge Wells – It was a double celebration for Zak Crawley today.  Zak scored his second century of the season and also passed 1500 first-class runs.

On the first day of the Specsavers County Championship match vs. Nottinghamshire Zak made 111 runs in Kent’s first innings total of 309 all out.

His 111 runs were scored off 173 balls (15 fours). `It was an innings that Kent needed after a first morning wobble on a greenish pitch.

Zak held the innings together as those around him fell.  Kent were 6 wickets down for 119 before Zak and Grant Stewart built a valuable 100 run partnership. Zak was the ninth Kent batter out with the score on 254.

Zak has clearly taken a liking to Tunbridge Wells. In three first-class innings at the historic Nevill Ground he has scored 204 runs.

While entertaining the Tunbridge Wells crowd with his well-crafted innings, Zak also celebrated passing 1500 runs in his 28-match, first-class career. It was only in April that Zak passed 1000 first-class runs in Kent’s victory over Warwickshire.

This was Zak’s second first-class century of the season and third in total. Early this season, he scored 108 vs. Warwickshire. Zak’s highest first-class knock of 168 was against Glamorgan in September 2018.
