15 Wickets for Mason

A tally of 15 wickets for Mason Crane in the group matches, helped Hampshire’s progress in the LV= Insurance County Championship.

Elsewhere, Joe Clarke fell two runs short of his seventh County Championship half-century in 2021.

Gloucestershire vs. Hampshire

Hampshire qualified for Division 1 and their quest for County Championship honours continues. Gloucestershire have faded over recent matches. Against Hampshire they fell to a 7 wicket defeat.

Mason Crane recorded match-figures of 5-110 taking his group stage tally to 15 wickets.

Gloucestershire batted first and made 229 (Mason Crane 2-55). Hampshire then amassed 486-7, before declaring (Mason Crane 13no).

Second time around, Gloucestershire were dismissed for 310 (Mason Crane 3-55), before Hampshire knocked off the required runs.

Durham vs. Nottinghamshire

Nottinghamshire will play in Division 1 in the next phase of the County Championship after their draw with Durham.

The visitors scored a first innings 328 (Joe Clarke 48). Durham were on the ropes after struggling to 165. Scott Borthwick (38) top scored for Durham.

In their second innings, Nottinghamshire were dismissed for 217 (Joe Clarke 16). Durham saw out the game on 188-4 (Scott Borthwick 25), yet failed to secure any bonus batting points.

Surrey vs. Somerset

The Oval pitch produced an intriguing draw on the final day.

Batting first Somerset scored a respectable 429 with Tom Lammonby making a welcomed 42.

After Surrey were dismissed for 280 Somerset appeared to be in charge.

Yet, Somerset gave up their advantage, collapsing to 69 all out.

Requiring 259 off 57 overs, Surrey ended on 106-4 when stumps were drawn.

Somerset progress to Division 1 of the County Championship.
