A first innings 5-51 for Stuart Broad set England on the road to a comfortable victory against Ireland.
England captain Ben Stokes won the toss and invited Ireland to bat first in the one-off Test at Lord’s.
Stuart was soon amongst the wickets, dismissing the top four in Ireland’s batting order. He finished with 5-51 off 17 overs as Ireland succumbed to 172 all out.
In reply, England briskly made 524-4 declared in doubled-quick time.
Zak Crawley and Joe Root were amongst the batters harvesting runs. Opener Zak scored a rapid 56 (11 fours) off 45 balls. While Joe passed 11000 Test runs on his way to posting 56 (1 six, 4 fours).
Second time around, Ireland made a spirited 352 before England ran out victors by 10 wickets.
