It’s been a wonderful Monday for Alice Capsey.
While Alice was preparing for England’s T20 World Cup encounter with Ireland, news broke that she would be joining Delhi Capitals in the WPL.
During today’s auction, the Capitals and Mumbai were intent on adding Alice to their squads.
Mumbai were first to reveal their hand, before being joined by the Capitals. As the auction unfolded, it was the Capitals final bid of £75,000 which won the day and secured Alice for the Mumbai franchise.
Mumbai then saw a little of what they will be getting with Alice.
After England had dismissed Ireland for 105, Alice hit a quick-fire 51 runs (1 six, 10 fours) off 21 balls. Alice reached her breath-taking half-century by clearing the leg-side boundary for six.
England maintained their 100% record in this year’s World Cup with a 4 wicket win over Ireland. While Alice, rightly, picked up the Player of the Match award.
