It’s another score of 150 plus runs for Joe Root. Joe’s first innings 153* in the second Test against New Zealand took his tally of Test scores of 150 or more runs to fourteen.
England got off to a shaky start, before Joe and Harry Brook (186) took England from 21-3 to 223-4. The pair added 302 runs for the fourth wicket before the dismissal of Brook.
Now approaching 11,000 Test runs, Joe was still batting away when England declared on 435-8 before lunch. His innings of 153* (3 six, 10 fours) was crafted from 224 balls and it was a welcomed return to form.
New Zealand were 138-7 when rain ended play for the day.
