Sophia Gardens – Cricket matches have their statistical footnotes and England’s 106 run win over Bangladesh did not buck this trend.
Ben Stokes returned his best World Cup bowling figures when taking 3 wickets for 23 runs in 6 overs. Ben’s previous best was 2-12 in England’s opening World Cup win over South Africa at the Kia Oval.
Jason Roy who scored 153 was the game’s star turn. Jos Buttler was promoted up the order, and contributed 64 quick fire runs in England’s total of 386 for 6.
For his efforts, Jos was diagnosed with a bruised hip and did not keep wicket during the Bangladesh innings. He is, however, expected to train with the rest of the squad on Wednesday.
