Wisden have named Joe Root as their Leading Men’s Cricketer in the World for 2021.
During 2021, Joe scored 1708 Test runs – the third highest in a calendar year. And, he also became England’s second highest run scorer in Tests behind Sir Alastair Cook.
During a year of bio-secure bubbles and roller-coaster performances by England, Joe held the team together with his batting. He reached three figures on six occasions, including double centuries in Sri Lanka and India.
While 2021 saw Joe at his batting best, he stood down as England captain last week after leading the side in 64 Tests over a five-year period.
