New Role for Marcus

Somerset’s Marcus Trescothick will continue his long association with the county in a coaching role. The recently retired opener has signed a two-year deal to become an assistant coach. In his new role at the Cooper Associates County Ground Marcus will work with second XI head coach Greg Kennis.

Marcus announced in June that he would be retiring from playing at the close of the 2019 season.

During his 27-year playing career with Somerset Marcus scored 52 first-class centuries amassing over 26000 runs. In his 76-match test career, he made over 5825 runs (AVG. 43.79) for England with a highest score of 219 vs South Africa in 2003.
