ODI Career Best

Lord’s – James Vince scored an ODI career best to help England seal a series win over Pakistan. James’ 56 runs in the second ODI bettered his previous best of 51 made against Sri Lanka.

Asked to bat first in a match reduced to 94 overs, England were in difficulties at 21-2. A third wicket partnership of 97 between Phil Salt (60) and James steered England’s innings back on course.

James’ reached his second ODI half-century off 36 balls. Two runs latter he passed his previous ODI best of 51 made on his ODI debut in 2016.

At innings end, England posted a target of 248 for Pakistan to chase.

Pakistan again produced an under-powered performance with the bat. In Cardiff they suffered a 9 wicket defeat. At Lord’s, they were dismissed for 195 to give England a 52 run win and an insurmountable 2-0 series lead.

The victory gave Ben Stokes his second consecutive win as stand-in captain in his hundredth ODI.
