Test Cricketer of the Year

The ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year is Ben Stokes.

Down in the dumps at the start of 2020, England’s Test team was transformed under Ben’s leadership.

Over the year, England won nine Tests. While impressive, it was not the number of wins that garnered the plaudits; rather, it was the panache with which England played.

Under Ben’s captaincy, England played unshackled, aggressive and entertaining cricket. A previous generation called for brighter cricket, Ben and England delivered it.

Ben’s contribution was more than just leading a new look England. He also scored 870 runs and took 26 wickets. With the bat, Ben scored centuries against the West Indies (120) and South Africa (103) as-well-as four half-centuries.

With Ben leading from the front, there is little doubt that England tore up the manual on how to win Test matches in 2022.
