Zak’s Vital 76

Day 4 and Zak Crawley may have helped England to set a tricky target for the West Indies. Zak’s vital 76 runs also, in all probability, cemented his test place.

Rory Burns (42) and Dom Sibley (50) gave the Three Lions a solid foundation. Before Joe Denly (29) and Zak added 38 valuable runs. With the dismissal of Denly, captain Ben Stokes joined Zak.

During the afternoon session, England hinted they might take charge of the test. Together Zak and Ben (46) added 98 for the fourth wicket and raised hopes that the home side would set a challenging total.

On a pitch showing uneven bounce, Zak’s innings was classy. He impressively scored in front of the wicket with punishing drives. His 50 (6 fours) came off 80 ball, before pushing on pass his previous highest score (66) in test matches.

Ben fell with the score on 249 with Zak following 4 runs later. At the close, England were 248-8.
