County Championship Century

Tom Lammonby scored his maiden County Championship century in Somerset’s match against Lancashire.

Somerset were dismissed for 90 in their first innings and Lancashire asked the hosts to follow on.

To avoid their third consecutive defeat in the LV= Insurance County Championship Somerset needed runs and Tom obliged.

In front of home supporters, Tom was the standout Somerset batter second time around.

Clearing the Taunton boundary for a six, Tom reached his century in style off 99 balls.

Helping the Somerset cause, Tom shared a second wicket partnership of 125 with Azhar Ali (50).

After scoring his century, Tom was adjudged LBW off the bowling of Luke Wells.

Passing his previous County Championship best of 70* Tom’s 103 ball innings included 2 sixes and 12 fours.

While the top order gave Somerset hope of making Lancashire work for the win, their total of 314 did little to trouble the visitors.

Lancashire’s win came quickly on day three. First the bowlers dismissed Somerset before George Balderson (10) and Alex Davies (22) knocked off the required runs in short order.
