Team Stokes and Team Buttler drew the England intra-squad match. However, the game was a successful workout for the Phoenix family members looking to impress the national selectors for the first test.
The three-day game took place at the Ageas Bowl, the venue for the first test vs. the West Indies.
Ben Stokes will captain the Three Lions in the first test and demonstrated his batting and bowling are in good order. Ben made 41 and 37, off 17 balls, with the bat. With the ball in hand, Ben returned game figures of 1 for 36 off 13 overs.
Vice-captain for the first test, Jos Buttler made 24no and 35 as-well-as claiming two stumpings.
Zak Crawley also showed he was on form with the bat. Batting at 3, Zak scored 43 and 34.
While Stuart Broad had a good workout bowling 19 over in the game.
The England Men’s squad for the first test will be announced on Saturday 4 July.
