Player of the Year

Matt Critchley is Derbyshire’s Player of the Year. The announcement was made yesterday by coach Dave  Houghton after a successful 2020 season for Matt.

In the Bob Willis Trophy Matt took 17 wickets and returned his best bowling figures of 6-73. With the bat, he scored 234 runs, helping Derbyshire to stay in the hunt for the Lord’s final until a loss to Lancashire scuppered their chances.

Keen to hold on to Matt, Derbyshire have secured his signature to extend his contract for a further two years.
