Runs are Flowing for Zak

The runs are flowing for Zak Crawley at the moment. First time out in The Hundred, Zak hit 64 runs off 40 balls for London Spirit.

Zak came into The Hundred on fire. Earlier this month, Zak joined up with England to score his first ODI half century. Impressively, from just nine innings, he has also hit 326 runs in the 2021 Vitality Blast for Kent Spitfires.

In London Spirit’s sole game, to date, Zak hit 3 sixes and 6 fours on his way to 64. Chasing 145, Birmingham Phoenix reached their target with three balls remaining (Liam Livingstone 19).

Following their win over London Spirit, the Phoenix went down in Sunday’s clash with Manchester Originals. After losing their opening game against Oval Invincibles by 9 runs, the Originals came back to defeat the Phoenix by 6 wickets. The Phoenix posted a paltry 87 (Liam Livingstone 12), before the Originals took 73 balls to knock off the runs (Jos Buttler 30).

Trent Rockets have blasted off to consecutive victories. First off, the Rockets dispatched Southern Brave in a comfortable 9 wicket win (Joe Root 1-17 off 20 balls). Yesterday (26 July), the Northern Superchargers became the latest franchise to fall to the Rockets. The Superchargers reached 132 before the Rockets took the win from 94 balls (Ben Stokes 2-24 off 20 balls).

It’s two defeats from two games for Northern Superchargers. In their opening match, the Superchargers lost by 5 runs to Welsh Fire. Matt Critchley helping the Fire to victory with figures of 1-29 off 20 balls. On Monday, the Supercharges blew up, losing to Trent Rockets.

In the Women’s Hundred, Sarah Taylor made her debut for Welsh Fire. Sarah scored 18 for the Fire who were extinguished by Northern Superchargers in a 6 wicket defeat.
