What a week it has been for Ben Stokes.
As England concluded their history making tour of Pakistan, the BBC announced Ben’s nomination for Sports Personality of the Year.
At the start of 2022, England’s Test team were at rock bottom. Since Ben accepted the captaincy, England have a record of 9 wins from 10 Tests.
Since becoming captain, Ben has led a transformed England with a brand of entertaining and winning Test cricket rarely seen.
If Ben’s re-writing of the how to win Test matches textbook was not enough, his batting also guided England to the small matter of a World Cup Final victory.
No wonder Ben received his second nomination for the prestigious BBC award – he previously won SPOTY in 2019.
Suffering from a bug picked up in Pakistan, Ben unfortunately could not attend the BBC ceremony to collect his runner-up trophy.
